 Hi, my name is Zara Dozier and my business is FancyLikeFurniture Design. This business started as a hobby between my husband and me during the pandemic when we were under lockdown trying to find things to do. My husband has a junk removal service and found various pieces he thought we could work on together. Some of our customers, who are also dear friends, donated wonderful pieces for me to practice on. FancyLikeFurniture Design was born.

I come from humble beginnings in Brooklyn New York.
My parents, who were first-generation Caribbean descendants always had a flair for colorful furniture pieces and other interesting art designs. They would encourage my brother, sister, and myself to be creative and express ourselves in various ways.

In turn, when my children were born, we also encouraged them to express themselves in some art form. Being overseas in the military allowed us to study different cultures and incorporate various styles in art deco. One of my daughters is an artist. My younger daughter is in the nursing field, but she has an artistic side to her as well and expresses it in her clothing and her choice of furniture pieces.

When you have a furniture piece that is ready for the landfill, it’s a shame to just throw it away when you can bring new life to it. As a part of my faith, we speak to our neighbors regularly, with many conversations leading to discussions about the condition of the Earth. It’s so important that we be good stewards of our planet, and do our best to show our appreciation for our marvelous home
